The Mini-Lift or Skin Lift

The skin lift is now practiced at the end of your thirties. When the small jowls appear, the nasolabial folds (from the corner of the nose to the end of the mouth) begin to appear, the skin is less firm, it is high time to think of a facial reshaping.

You may need a facelift at different ages. Indeed, a multitude of factors come into play such as: illness, smoking, hormonal change, repeated weight loss and our genetic background are just a few examples. Facial rejuvenation is not a miracle and will not go from fifty to twenty. It is possible to say that after the operation, the patient will look great and probably 5 years younger, no more. How long will this beneficial effect of facial rejuvenation last? The operator will age like everyone else, at the same speed, but the effect of the operation will still be there 10,15, 20 years later. What is important to understand is that a person who wants to stay young will ask 5 to 10 years later, a new intervention to try to slow down an overly obvious aging, not that he is dissatisfied with the result, on the contrary, it is because she always wants to keep her air full. Aging is inevitable, but aging beautifully is much more pleasant.

There are many horror stories about this surgery, which are mostly untrue and unreported. Thousands of people have benefited from this wonderful intervention that improves appearance and our quality of life. Indeed, with our wrinkles less, we find the taste of dressing, changing hairstyle, going out, we want to do everything.

Who can have Mini Skin-Lİft?

Anyone concerned with their appearance is an excellent candidate for this surgery. It is aimed at both men and women in good health and at all ages.

It is truly the most requested and most popular surgery at our clinic.

PROCEDURES for Mini-Lift

It is an operation where it is possible to correct the sagging of the cheek. The more extensive the correction, the longer the surgical time and it varies between two and three hours. This intervention is performed under local anesthesia. At our clinic, we favor local anesthesia because the recovery time for the patient is much shorter.

The incisions vary with the needs of the correction, with age, sex, quantity and quality of hair: if the hair line is low, it is possible to cut in the hair, if the hair line is high, we will have to pass in front of it so as not to further strip the hair. These incisions also vary according to the surgeon’s preferences. The latter will explain what seems to him preferable in your case.

As for crow’s feet wrinkles and folds around the mouth, they cannot be improved by the facelift. Dermabrasion (sandblasting) or laser can then be offered, but these methods often give permanent discoloration and the result is then unsightly. The surgeon will explain to you that Botox ™ is the only treatment that really works for crow’s feet. Everything can be done during your facelift or after it.

PRE-OPERATIVE ADVICE for Mini Face Lift

Leave the hair a little longer than usual to hide the back of the ears

If the hair is dyed, give a dye 2 to 3 days before the operation.

AVOID ASPIRIN AND ITS DERIVATIVES (Advil) which cause bleeding. If you are unsure, call us to check the medications you are taking and ask if they are acceptable or if you should stop them. Anti-inflammatory drugs and Aspirin thin the blood and cause bleeding during and after surgery. They must be stopped 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) can be taken without problems.

Alcohol in any form is prohibited 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery. Alcohol dilates blood vessels and causes severe bleeding during and after surgery. Even a small amount (a glass) causes a huge problem for the surgeon and will slow your healing.

Cigarettes and nicotine in all its forms are prohibited 1 month before surgery and one month after surgery. Nicotine prevents oxygenation of the skin and other tissues and can contribute to necrosis (see below).

If you usually take medication, ask the surgeon if you can take it before your procedure.

POST-OPERATIVE ADVICE for Mini Lift

Avoid anything that can raise blood pressure and risk a hemorrhage, during the 2 weeks following the operation (cleaning, sweeping, bending your head for several hours, etc.). Do not hold your head upside down like washing a bathtub or floor or lifting heavy objects. Any physical or emotional effort including brisk walking. Sex is prohibited for 2 to 3 weeks for the same reasons. You have to imagine a calm and peaceful life for 2 weeks. This will prevent the swelling from settling in and your healing will be much faster.

Contrary to popular belief, it is not necessary to sleep with 3 pillows under your head for any of our surgeries. Sleep on your back and keep your head straight to prevent one side of the face from becoming more swollen than the other if you lie on your side normally.

Make a shampoo every day in the shower, comfortably warm. This will prevent the formation of a crust of dried blood behind the ear and will facilitate removal of the sutures by the surgeon. The sutures on the skin are really solid and cannot be removed by light rubbing.

IT IS FORBIDDEN TO USE A HAIRDRYER OR A CURLING IRON.

Your sutures will be removed a week after your surgery, be careful when combing your hair, do not use a stiff brush.

Make COLD wet compresses (with a washcloth) on the cheeks and neck to hasten the absorption of swelling and bruising, especially in the evening for twenty minutes for 2 to 3 weeks after surgery. Do not put ice directly on the face.

If you have a few bruises that persist, applying lukewarm compresses will help reduce them. The surgeon will advise you on this.

Hair dyeing is allowed 5 to 6 weeks after surgery. You will be able to apply make-up two weeks after your surgery, makeup in the weeks that follow, makes the appearance of the face more quickly presentable. Do not use makeup that is too dark, as the scars could take on the pigment in the makeup. Instead, use water-based makeup (clinical or otherwise). You can always put moisturizers 2 days after the procedure but never massage the face during application.

MORE OR LESS IMMEDIATE CONSEQUENCES OF THE OPERATION

  1. Swelling of the face.
  2. Bruises more or less marked at the neck, sometimes on the face. (These bruises can be present 2 to 3 weeks after surgery)
  3. Return to work is possible after 2 weeks

MORE OR LESS LATE CONSEQUENCES OF THE OPERATION

Decrease or absence of any sensation of the skin that has been peeled off to go back up. This for 3 to 6 months and sometimes up to a year. Watch out for the extreme cold. Beware of burns caused by compresses that are too hot (this for the first 6 months). Beware of dryers and curling irons which can cause burns due to skin insensitivity.

Scars always more or less visible, but camouflaged, in the neck at the hairline, in front or in the ear, in front or in the hair. Camouflage with water-based makeup (e.g. Clinique) and an appropriate hairstyle.

POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS IN CONCLUSION

The mini-facelift is a very nice surgery with little pain. It’s a very nice gift. This easy and effective intervention has a very high satisfaction rate. No one regrets looking younger and more restful without having to camouflage their wrinkles with their clothing.

No miracle cream or treatment without surgery can remove excess skin. The laser does not replace the surgical facelift. If your skirt is too long, you have to cut it, that’s all. Even if you iron it, it will still be as long. Do not hesitate to use this minimally invasive surgery because the results are truly spectacular.
