Clean Scabs After Hair Transplantation

Clean Scabs After Hair Transplantation

Crusting following hair transplantation is one of the conditions that might be faced after all kinds of hair transplantation, so every hair transplantation patient must be informed on how to remove crusts afterwards. So, by taking some advice from your doctor, this process could easily be defeated.

How to Clean Crusts After Hair Transplantation?

Since hair transplantation is a bit demanding operation, how to clean the scabs after hair transplantation is always on the agenda.

You may feel tired and physically exhausted during this operation. In this process, your scalp will be affected and worn out, too. The reason why scalp abrasion is so heavy is that thousands of holes or channels are opened in this area. Even in hair transplants with the fewest number of transplants, about 2500-3000 hair transplants are performed.

For every graft, a micromotor or perforating device is inserted into the scalp and the hair follicles are cut and loosened. Thus, each graft will create a hole/wound. The blood flowing through these channels or holes to the surface of the scalp coagulates, dries, and causes scabs in this area. The same thing applies to the area of transplantation.

Does The Hair Transplant Area Bleed?

If the operation is not performed with the DHI hair transplantation technique, according to the applied technique, a transplantation channel or hole is opened into the area to which it will be transplanted. In these areas where transplantation is done, some bleeding, as in the donor area, happens, and this blood dries. Thus, crusts occur on the scalp. Such bleeding cannot be cleaned during the hair transplant operation or immediately after it. Actually, the first contact of these blood clots with water may be 3 days later at the first wash. By that time, the blood has already formed crusts.

Cleaning the Scabs after Hair Transplantation

The first washing of the hard skin after hair transplantation starts. The first shampoo is made under the control of Dr. at the hair transplantation center where the hair transplantation is performed. This success of the first wash and subsequent delicate washes is also very effective for fast and healthy cleaning of the scabs.

For the cleaning of the crusts formed after the hair transplantation without damaging the additional hair in a short period, attention should be drawn to the first wash and the following fine washing. A large quantity of emollient lotion should be applied to the transplantation area and the donor site from where the hair follicles are taken before washing. This has to reach all hair follicles and wait for an average of 45 minutes.

The emollient cream used in these fragrance-free washes remains well after the outer shell has been striated and consists of creams including Bepanthol or prep-made gels. The purpose of using these emollient emulsions before washing is to soften the shell completely. Therefore, the hard skin will be removed without damaging the transplanted hair follicles.

Cleaning Process After Hair Transplantation

No friction or rubbing effect is induced while applying the lotion. An adequate amount of lotion is spilled inside the transplanted area and spreads over all areas. For giving the exact effect to reach all the roots of hair, one can apply a slight buffering effect inside the relevant area.

After 45 minutes of letting the lotion stay, the crust will soften. This lotion is removed after this time with warm water. After the removal of lotion from the skin, a little shampoo is poured into the non-planted area and the area is soaped.

The formed foam after foaming is carried to the transplantation area. Again, rubbing movements are not performed and the transplantation area is cleaned with soft movements. You can start washing with lukewarm water.

How to Dry the Hair Transplant After Washing?

The drying process is finished after the washing, with the help of a soft towel. Here, it is necessary to pay attention in order not to rub the towel on the scalp. It will be enough to put a towel on the hair and dry with a light tampon. Not all scabs are removed right after the first wash. For this reason, these procedures should be continued gently until all the scabs are cleaned after hair transplantation.

These crusts will be a little past after each cleaning. When the required time is over, the crusts will not leave any traces. The crust formed on the first day of hair transplantation disappears almost completely at the end of the first 10 days.

However, it may not happen with all patients simultaneously. The scabs after hair transplantation may completely disappear after 15 days in some patients. So, if the crust does not disappear after 10 days, do not panic and wait for a few more days.
